Christmas for our Adopted Families
Twinbrook Baptist Church has adopted two families for this holiday season. We are accepting food and present donations for them both. If you would like to know what we need, please contact the church office for a complete list.
Thank you for you help.
Advent Bible Study
During this Advent Season Twinbrook Baptist Church will be hosting an Advent Bible Study program. Every Sunday, immediately following fellowship hour, there will be an Advent themed Bible Study in the Library. It will feature
The First Christmas by Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan.
"In The First Christmas Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan—top Jesus scholars and authors of The Last Week—help us see the real Christmas story buried in the familiar Bible accounts. Basing their interpretations on the two nativity narratives in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, Borg and Crossan focus on the literal story—the inner truth rather than the historical facts—to offer a clear and uplifting message of hope and peace. With The First Christmas readers get a fresh, deep, and new understanding of the nativity story, enabling us to better appreciate the powerful message of the Gospels." from amazon.com
M&Ms and ROMEOs
On December 6, 2013 our social lunch groups are meeting. If you are looking for some good conversation and a good meal then come on out. All ladies are welcome to join the M&Ms at P.F. Changs at White Flint Mall at noon. It is requested that you RSVP by contacting the Church or Lois Frick before that day. All gentlemen are welcome to join our ROMEOs, who will be meeting in the Twinbrook Baptist Church parking lot at 11:30 a.m. so they can decide where they want to go.
Our Monthly Book Club always comes up with some interesting, dynamic books to read. This month they will be meeting on December 10, 2013 in the Library at 11 a.m. They are currently reading Inferno by Dan Brown. According to amazon.com it is about, "In the heart of Italy, Harvard professor of symbology, Robert Langdon, is drawn into a harrowing world centered on one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces . . . Dante’s Inferno.Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dante’s dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust . . . before the world is irrevocably altered."
Are you a secret singer? Do you have a Christmas wish to sing with the choir? Our TBC Worship Choir invites you to our Saturday rehearsal on December 14, 2013 at 10 a.m. We'll rehearse the music for Christmas Eve and have a fellowship Subway lunch together at noon. You'll be all set for a sear in the choir on Christmas Eve.
Cookie Exchange, what is that? Is it a store? Is it like a gift exchange? Close. A Cookie Exchange is when people bring in cookie recipes and batches of cookies made from those recipe. They then all try each others recipes and trade them if they like the cookies. On December 15, 2013, during Fellowship Hour, which happens directly after our service, Twinbrook Baptist Church is hosting it's first ever Cookie Exchange. So come out and bring your favorite cookies, we don't discriminate, we are accepting of all gingerbread, sugar, chocolate chip, and any other cookies you can think of, just don't forget the recipe.
Do you like to sing? Do you have your radio set to Christmas music? Come join us while we go a caroling around TBC. While the date is still not firmly set, during the third week in December, we are going to raise our voices in song in the neighborhoods surrounding the church. So grab your heavy coats, scarfs, and mittens and take a walk with us, afterwords we will all be coming back to the church for cookies and cider.
